分享下我覺得 campus job 的優缺點！
優點
- 不用申請 CPT 就能工作因為使用 CPT 通常會要求你修一堂實習課，意味要付學分費
- 可以加入學校工會，NYU 工會福利之一是提供健康保險所以一學期省 2,800 USD
- 跟我看到多半 marketing intern 的薪水比算不錯我的職缺是 28.5 USD / per hour
- 認識很多新朋友！我在不同學院上班，所以認識的人背景更不同
缺點
- 一週上限 20 小時但國際生的時數就是每週 20 小時，用 CPT 也是
- 並非所有科系都有相關職缺我在 Communication Team 做 marketing & communcation 所以是相關，但如果你是 coding 或 biology 可能比較少
NYU 這學期的統計，平均一個 campus job 的職缺收到 132 履歷
如果是希望在學期間可以有收入，我仍覺得蠻值得考慮的
Pros and Cons of campus jobs
Pros
- Can work without applying for CPT (since CPT usually requires you to take an internship course, meaning you have to pay tuition fees)
- Can join the school union. One of the benefits of the NYU union is that it provides health insurance (saving you 2,800 USD per semester)
- Pay i will say is good compared to most marketing intern positions Ive seen (my role is 28.5 USD per hour)
- Get to meet a lot of new friends (I work in different departments, so I meet people with diverse backgrounds)
Cons
- The maximum is 20 hours per week (but for international students, the limit is 20 hours per week even with CPT).
- Not all majors have related positions (I work in the Communication Team doing marketing & communication, but if youre in coding or biology, there might be fewer opportunities?)
If youre looking to earn some income during school, I still think its worth considering
